Homebuyer Education
The Valley Home Store provides prospective buyers in Eagle County with two distinct options to gain knowledge about the home-buying process: The Homebuyer Class and the Deed Restricted FAQ Session.
These resources are designed to educate individuals interested in purchasing a home and provide specific guidance on navigating the complexities of deed-restricted properties.
The Homebuyer Class
This class is designed to offer buyers fundamental knowledge about the home-buying process. It covers various topics, including budgeting, lending, down payment assistance, real estate processes, homeowners associations, and post-purchase information. Completion of this class, or an equivalent one, is a requirement for purchasing a deed-restricted home in Eagle County and for utilizing any of our Down Payment Assistance programs. These classes will be a combination of in-person and online sessions, so please make sure to check the location when selecting an in-person class.

This session offers insights into the various deed-restricted programs available across Eagle County and provides guidance on the application process for each. Please don't hesitate to bring any questions you may have.
It's important to note that this session does not fulfill the educational requirement for purchasing deed-restricted housing or accessing down payment assistance.

SCHA offers monthly classes that take place in Frisco and there is no cost for participants. Please visit their homebuyer education webpage for more information.
Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation
MGIC provides a self-paced, free class where you can study at your own convenience. The topics covered in this course include preparing to buy a home, the home-buying process, obtaining your mortgage, finalizing your loan, and becoming a successful homeowner. eHome America
eHome America offers its course online, allowing you to complete it at your own pace. You have the flexibility to select any counseling agency throughout the state for a final follow-up phone call. The course covers various topics, including readiness for home buying, money management, establishing and maintaining good credit, the advantages and disadvantages of homeownership, different types of loans, and how down payment assistance programs operate.
